About Community Night

Helping youth see the wider body of Christ.

Community Night is an interdenominational youth gathering for high school Christians from churches across Sydney.

Our heart

Gospel-centred friendship beyond one local group.

Community Night exists to bring together youth from churches across Sydney, especially smaller youth groups, so that young Christians can build friendships and experience the wider family of Christ.

The vision began through planning in 2021, with the first Community Night held in 2022. It was created to help youth build meaningful relationships with other believers before many of them transition into university life, where they are exposed to many different influences and choices.

Not replacing church — supporting it.

Community Night is not intended to replace the ministry of local churches. Instead, it exists to support and strengthen what churches are already doing, encouraging youth to remain connected to and discipled within their own church communities.

Vision and values

Four values shape the way we gather.

01

Gospel focused

At the centre is the gospel of Jesus Christ. The aim is to proclaim the good news of Jesus and encourage youth to grow in faith.

02

Youth focused

The night is designed specifically for youth and youth groups, creating a space where young people can grow spiritually and encourage one another.

03

Intentionally small

Community Night aims to grow without losing meaningful relationships. Discussion groups help youth connect, talk, and reflect together.

04

A platform to serve

Different churches partner together to organise the event, lead discussions, run games, and serve the wider youth community.

Interdenominational partnership

United around the gospel.

Youth groups from different churches and traditions are invited to participate, including Baptist, Anglican, Presbyterian, and other evangelical churches.

The goal is to unite youth around the shared foundation of the gospel while celebrating the wider body of Christ. Over the years, the event has continued to grow while maintaining its focus on genuine relationships rather than becoming a large impersonal event.

Serving together

One event, many hands.

Community Night is run through partnership, service, and shared ownership between youth groups and churches.

Different churches can help by leading games, hosting discussion groups, serving in music and production, welcoming students, helping with logistics, and supporting creative media. This keeps Community Night connected to local churches while giving students a wider picture of the body of Christ.
